Summary
A duplicate resumed request or a late persistence failure can cancel another attempt, confirm incomplete output, or leave cleanup waiting after provider work stops. Give each attempt its own pre-start cancellation signal, persist terminal publication ownership, and settle the exact generation/provider only after every required write finishes.
How it works
Each provider attempt acquires persisted start ownership before execution. The shared host tracks required writes, confirms provider drain, and delegates terminal publication to the registered journal owner. Cancellation and cleanup remain bound to the exact generation and provider attempt, including after a lost acknowledgement.

Resumed execution requires atomic provider-start ownership, and external journals require the persistence-barrier capability. Custom stores fail closed when those contracts are unavailable.
